As all of us know, the search engine robots determine the fate of the websites. The search engine bots use typical algorithm to identify the contents of your website, and based on the research carried out by them, they assign a rank to your webpage. In fact, the position of your website in the search engine result page (SERP) is an indication of the relevance of the contents of your webpage with respect to the query, or in other words, the keywords searched.

Let us now think about the strategies that will improve the optimization of a particular website’s page. The most important criterion for any website that is looking for a SEO is to have a good SEO copy. A good SEO copy is nothing but a page that is both user-friendly and the bot-friendly. The contents of the page should be relevant to the title given to the website. The most important of all, the keyword, has to be selected appropriately. You may do some research before you select the keyword. There are a number of tools (Word Tracker, Keyword Optimizer, etc.) that will help you find out the relevance of a particular keyword for your website. For example, if you are a Tour Operator in the Florida area, you may use the keyword ‘Florida Tourism’, ‘Florida Attraction’, etc., as your keyword. However, there are certain websites that cannot find the most relevant keywords for them. It is, therefore, advised that they choose a particular keyword after doing an initial research on it, and if required, change it later. You may do the research by simply typing the short-listed keywords in the search page and see the result in the SERP. You may select those keywords that displayed the websites of your competitors in the top of the page. These keywords have already gained popularity, and therefore, they will work for your websites too.

Apart from the keyword, the text should contain related words and phrases that compliment the title and the description given in the respective tags. The Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) is a relatively new technique adopted by Google to identify the theme of the websites and thus allot the rank according to it. This is a great innovation happened in the field of search engine optimization as a means to prevent spamming gin the websites. Thus, filling a webpage with keywords will not be sufficient in order to gain the proper SEO. Rather the entire text of the webpage should have relevant keywords/phrases used in it. By using such words/phrases, the search engines will be able to identify the theme of the website and thus give a rank to it.

As a thumb rule, be aware of what your competitors are up to. For example, if you conduct a research on the content and the keywords used by them, you will get better idea about their effectiveness in bringing success to their websites. However, do not simply follow their steps, for their strategies might contain loopholes that do not work with your website. Innovate their strategies and implement them in your website after conducting research on them. Good Luck!
