SEO301 - Copyrighting (Chap 2)

July 6th, 2007 | 1,349 Views

Copy writing is the process of improving the quality of the website by creating appropriate text content and thereby attracting the search engines for specific search items. The purpose of copy writing is to increase the search engine optimization and thus improve the traffic to the website.

Copywriting is applied on both the viewable and non-viewable contents of the website. The viewable contents, the displayed text, however, is the most important, though the non-displayed elements of the website such as the title tags, description, keyword tags, alt text, etc., also demand certain level of copywriting.

Copywriting, in other words, preparing keyword-rich contents for the website, is a relatively newer SEO technique. The traditional methods of SEO such as the Meta tags do not have much relevance in the present scenario where thousands of websites are being hosted on a day-to-day basis.

The search engine strategies have undergone a lot of innovations owing to the massive traffic by the websites and the Herculean task of separating the proper contents from the pool of information. Thus the present SEO method focuses more on the quality of the contents rather than the descriptive elements such as the meta tags or the title tags of the website.

Compared to traditional methods of SEO, copywriting has achieved a lot of significance in the present-day SEO strategies. Copywriting improves the quality of the website. By creating the genuine contents in the websites through copywriting, a webmaster can bring enough recognition to his website through the search engines.

Google search engine spiders value contents the most. It is the quality of the content that directs the users to a website. Thus all the new search engine marketing strategies now focus on this aspect of the website. Thus, copywriting, one among them, is gaining more and more popularity.

All other methods such as link building, blogging, etc., have got certain limitations. There are chances that the website is penalized for the improper application of the above methods, whereas there are no such risks involved in adopting the copywriting method in order to improve the page ranking of a website. Rather it always encourage the visibility of the website, by the proper use of the contents in it. To have a good copy-written content in the website, every page of a website should contain at least 250 viewable words.

Copywriting is the most important aspect of SEO because of the impact it creates on both the search engines and the users. The contents of the website should be prepared in such a way that it is appealing to both the search engine crawlers and the users. If a website page is created without proper copywriting, it would result in poor optimization. On the other hand, if the website is added with appropriate keywords maintaining the keyword density, it might look artificial and not appealing to the user. Therefore, it is very important that the copywriting should be done in a more professional manner, considering both the aspects of it.
